BRYAN NGUYEN

(Cosplay Team)

Bryan received his Bachelor’s degree in 2003 in Information & Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine. After a few years of working as a programmer, Bryan attended law school and graduated in 2009. Bryan was then admitted to the CA State Bar at the end of 2009 and has been practicing since. He now runs the Bryan K. Nguyen Law Group in Southern California.

Bryan has always enjoyed the various sci-fi and comic genre from Star Trek, Star Wars, DC Comics, and Marvel Comics. Growing up in the 1990’s, Bryan’s first exposure to mainstream science fiction was Star Trek: The Next Generation. Bryan was immediately captivated by the storytelling of a utopian future with space travel and a hope and promise of a brighter tomorrow. Bryan then followed Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and his favorite Trek TV series is and was Star Trek: Voyager. To Bryan, Voyager depicted the classic Greek story of The Odyssey, whereby the protagonist, Captain Janeway, is the modern portrayal of Odysseus who battles against all odds to bring her family home. The story is about the journey, not the end destination. Bryan also grew up drawing and mimicking various comic art such as Jim Lee’s X-Men and the artwork of the late George Perez at DC Comics. While in elementary school, Bryan would often doodle drawings of Gambit or Batman on the side of his notebook which would then land him in after-school detention (worth it).

Bryan started “costuming” or later redefined as “cosplay” in the late 2005 following the release of Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith. That fall for Halloween, Bryan purchased and assembled his first Jedi costume, and attended his first San Diego Comic Con in 2007 when the “costuming” bug bit.

Since then, Bryan embarked on the journey and hobby
